I am so stoked.
I have never had a real budget plan before, and when I did, it was more like guidelines then a budget, aka I didn't really follow it. But now, Kenzie has introduced me to something beautiful called the envelope system.
Step 1
Set yourself a budget. From your pay check calculate 10% for tithing, 10% for yourself, and then how much you need for food and entertainment and the rest put into savings.
Step 2
Take out your money in cash. Cash for yourself, your food, and your entertainment. Dealing with cash helps to see exactly how much of my budget I have left, and makes me think twice before spending it. Plus you can't go over because you took out exact cash.
Step 3
Perks. Whatever money you don't use just saves up, like roll over minutes on your cell phone;) Then you can save up for a special event or use it on whatever you'd like because you saved!
How great is that!! Finally a guilt free way to account for my money. No more standing at the store with a handful of socks debating to get them or not, because 'well, how much do I really need them?' Kenz and I made little pockets out of mini card stock cards and taped the sides and I keep it in my wallet.
